Emergency First Response is a training where you don't have to go underwater. You will learn how to offer help to people who are in a life-threatening situation and continue further help until the emergency services arrive.

Emergency First Response® primary and secondary care training teach you internationally recognized emergency care guidelines that are important to everyone. This course is all about learning what to do in the critical moments between the time a life-threatening emergency occurs until the emergency medical services arrive. You will learn how to perform CPR, practice bandaging/splinting, assess different injuries/illnesses and improve your first aid skills.


By the end of this course, you’ll feel confident and fully prepared to help someone in case of an emergency.
If you want to become a PADI Instructor, you can continue your education by enrolling the Emergency First Response Instructor course. It is a professional training required to become a PADI Instructor teaching you how to present emergency care guidelines to anyone and practice emergency care skills.

About the course

Course structure

The Emergency First Response® primary and secondary care training consists of two phases:

  • Knowledge development with videos of different first aid techniques through eLearning to learn what steps to take in an emergency;


  • Practical sessions to apply 8 essentials in a role-playing scenario with your Instructor for helping others in an emergency (provide CPR,  first aid for children and infants, practice bandaging and splinting, etc.)

Duration

PADI eLearning time commitment: 2-4 hours

Entire course: 1-2 days

  • Respond to various illnesses and injuries
  • Help someone who is choking
  • Manage a possible spinal injury
  • Make bandages and splints

General information

Minimum age: none ;

Course prerequisites: none, just the desire to help others. If you wish to become a PADI Rescue Diver, it is mandatory to have Emergency First Response® (EFR) Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) training certification within the last 24 months.
